Strategic Or Opportunistic?

What Type Of Thinker Are You?

Perspective: A way of regarding situations, facts, etc, and judging their relative importance
(Source-English Word Dictionary)

Thereare many different interpretations of the word perspective. To me,perspective means simply, how you see things. The old question ”Is theglass half full or half empty?”, is a question that helps to determine aperson’s perspective.

Somepeople might tell you that your answer depends on whether you areoptimistic or pessimistic. And there is definitely a lot of truth inthat. But the simple fact of the matter is, perspective does not have tobe about positive and negative.

Perspective,as I recently read, can be the difference between seeing things asopportunities versus strategies and vice versa. Or better said,Opportunistic Thinking Vs’ Strategic Thinking. Nowobviously, neither of these ways of looking at something would seemnegative but depending on the context, could easily be more harmful thanhelpful.

What is the difference between an opportunistic and a strategic thinker, you ask?

Tome, the difference is logical. People that are opportunistic tend tobelieve that there is always something better right around the corner orthey think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Theyare not anti work by any means but they do hold tight to the idea ofsucceeding by following in the footsteps of those that have made it lookeasy.

Internetmarketers of all types are guilty of this at one time or another. Imyself have been on the losing end of this crossroad and haveunfortunately learned my lessons the harder, rougher way. Good thing forme I’m a 4x4 enthusiast. The bumps and windy roads are merely obstaclesintended to be endured.

Backto my mention of following in the footsteps of others who... pleaseallow me to be clear. Following others that have proven track recordsfor success is not a bad thing, nor will it ruin or mislead your effortsdown the road. But bouncing from the heels of one success story to thenext, will undoubtedly be misleading and potentially counterproductive.

When you think of strategic thinkers, who comes to mind for you?
Itcould be a President, General or CEO perhaps, the list goes on and on.Strategy is one of the oldest survival techniques known to man.

Thinkabout it for a minute. Where would man be had he not been able to learnto adapt and evolve with the times. Where would civilizations bewithout the keen foresight of their leaders and their armies? Wherewould the USA be today without the constitution?

Strategyhas played a key role and will continue to do so in all modern culturesand societies as the world continues to evolve. Without thinkers, wewould most likely end up back in the dark ages with no resources, nocomforts and no futures to look forward to.

Thanks to great minds and thinkers, we as a civilization have been able to keep a steady pace moving forward into the future.

Strategicthinking goes a step beyond the opportunistic thinking in my opinion.Strategic thinkers not only watch, follow and learn from the mostsuccessful, they also look deeper into hidden areas of potential growthand advancement that may be overlooked.

Astrategic thinker is definitely an entrepreneur, hands down. Anentrepreneur will go out and find the same opportunity as theopportunity seeker and then by tapping into his or her strengths, canstrategically create an outline for success above and beyond what thenormal steps might be. If nothing else, the strategic thinker orentrepreneur will prove more willing to take the necessary steps to findthat success. If the opportunity seeker does not see results they areafter, they’ll typically pack up and move on to the next thing. That tome, is why there is and always has been such a high skeptic rate in theIM world.

Which kind of “Thinker” are you?

To get a better understanding of this, you should read what one of my mentors Rich had to say
in his updated report,”Internet Business Manifesto’s Missing Chapter”.

Youcan clearly see the difference between these two types of thinkers andhow it applies to running your business and being successful.
